Levi Manga: Development
Before starting the manga, Suruga’s editor-in-chief suggested she go to the Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel to get a better sense of the Underground where Levi and the others live at the start of the story. Who is Levi Ackerman?
Levi Ackerman is a major character in both the manga and anime who was born underground and now lives in Wall Rose. He is often referred to as Captain Levi or even Humanity’s Strongest Soldier and has the highest titan kill count in the entire series, presumably 58 on screen kills and 89 or even more in total. He is the only child of Kuchel Ackerman, who died as a result of an illness. As a result, he was taken in by an unknown man named Kenney, or so he thought. During Kenny’s death, it was revealed that he was Levi Ackerman’s uncle.

Levi is a short character, standing at a little under average height (5’2) for a guy. He has short black hair with an undercut, grey eyes with visible dark circles under them, and a well-developed body and physical strength from training and using The Three Dimensional Maneuver Gear frequently. Levi’s face is usually neutral or expressionless. He usually wears his scout regiment uniform, which consists of a cloak with the scout regiment logo on the back, a light grey buttoned up shirt underneath, black pants with his gear attached, and his signature ascot around his neck.
